Joa Rivas, Biography

This is Joa, I am the founder of Joa Fitness, a platform to coach and transform lives, based on behavioural change and the adaptation of positive daily habits. We believe posture and wellness is crucial for productivity and performance. Our mission is to reactivate the workforce globally, retaining top talent and bringing wellness in the workplace to avoid employee turnover and employee burnout. Our next goal by 2027 is to support 10000 employees in tech companies to reduce back pain and absenteeism. Together we are stronger

Joa Rivas was born in Caracas, Venezuela. At the age of 15 Joa suffered from continuous back pain and was diagnosed with scoliosis. Back pain affected Joa for many years. She had been treated by physiotherapists using electrotherapy, massages and with a variety medications but the pain was consistent. Joa’s physiatrist recommended she explore strengthen training as an alternative.

In 2005 Joa started to practice Yoga and Pilates in Chicago where she lived 2 years. After becoming so passionate about these disciplines in 2010 Joa became a Yoga, Pilates and personal trainer in Toronto and since then her life has been transformed.

As a personal trainer and fitness instructor, Joa has helped over 30,000 students of all ages with similar back and posture problems using the knowledge gained over the years that helped her overcome back pain.

She competed in 9 fitness shows during 6 years in many countries around the world.

Joa Rivas is an elite International Personal Trainer working in the heart of Toronto. She has worked in Australia and Singapore for over years. Joa works as a Fitness Instructor as well as a Yoga, Pilates and Tai chi teacher in wellness retreats overseas. Joa is also Nutrition and Wellness certified and possesses a unique and effective program for posture support and correction called PSP , Posture School Program, designed especially for people that suffer from scoliosis and chronic backaches.

Through pandemic she revamped her original PSP. Currently she helps business owners and corporate clients achieve success by empowering their workforce with better health and posture. She is passionate about educating organizations and individuals on spinal health through the PPP, Posture Productive Program, a corrective and preventive program designed to improve posture and mobility—particularly for those who sit for long hours at their desks—and promote overall wellbeing inside and outside the workplace.

She gives back to her community by happily supporting “Banda Azul”, a non profit foundation in Venezuela, which provides nutrition and education to over 1,500 kids, assistance to 2 hospitals and 2 retirement places. Bandazul.com

Over 12 years of global experience in professional fitness training and health coaching for groups and individuals. Certified Brain Coach performance. Yoga and Pilates Instructor. Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. Highly skilled in Posture and Strength Training, Tai Chi, Thai Massage, and Employee Health and Wellness. Holds a Certificate IV in Fitness (Health and Physical Education) from the Australian Institute of Fitness.
